Sarah Brown, PhD, receives the 2025 Gottfried Family Women’s Health Fellowship Award

The Foundation for Women’s Wellness chose Dr. Sarah Brown to receive a 2025 Gottfried Family Women’s Health Fellowship Award. These awards recognize outstanding emerging physicians and scientists dedicated to advancing women’s health through their research.

Dr. Sarah Brown completed her PhD in Epidemiology and Human Genetics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2023. She is currently a Postdoctoral fellow under Rebecca Brotman, PhD, at CAMRI. The foundation selected Dr. Brown for this honor based on her passion for women’s reproductive health research and for her work studying the urogenital and vaginal microbiome in menopause.

Her recent publications investigate how specific lubricants used during transvaginal ultrasounds may alter the vaginal microbiota and increase the risk of bacterial vaginosis. This research addresses critical gaps in how medical practices and research protocols can unintentionally influence women’s health.
